The Vietnam National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (changed the name from the National Institute of Labor Protection) is a public scientific and technological organization directly under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, with the functions of scientific research to serve the management, deploying and applying scientific and technological findings of occupational safety and health and working environment under provisions of the law.
The international trade name of the Vietnam National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health is the Vietnam National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (VNNIOSH).
The Vietnam National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health has legal status, private seal and is able to open accounts at the State Treasury and commercial bank for operation under provisions of the law. The headquarters of the Vietnam National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health is located in Hanoi.
Duties and Powers
- To carry out scientific researches to serve in state management of occupational safety and health, to guarantee worker health and safety, to protect working environment:
– To research, develop and apply science and technology in occupational safety and health; preventing and treating environmental pollution to guarantee workers’ health and safety.
– To research in establishing methods and procedures of standard certification and regulation certification for personal protective equipments and safety devices; to study, discover and propose for the supplement of the list of insured occupational diseases in Vietnam.
- To carry out scientific researches to serve the operations of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor:
– To study and provide scientific bases to assist the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in joining with other state agencies in establishing regulations, policies and legal normative documents of occupational safety and health, regulations and policies for occupational accidents and diseases insurance.
– To study and provide scientific bases to assist the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Presidium in the operations of directing and improving the effectiveness of all operations, guiding and inspecting occupational safety and health in the Trade Union system.
- Duties in occupational safety and health and guaranteeing worker health and safety, protecting working environment:
– To carry out activities of working environment monitoring and analyzing; to evaluate, supervise and forewarn working environment pollution; providing scientific information and knowledge in occupational safety and health.
– Cooperate in establishing the criteria and norms system of occupational safety and health, evaluating environmental impacts.
– To carry out international cooperation in the scientific and technological field of occupational safety and health and environment protection.
– To establish and develop the potentialities of the Vietnam National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health meeting the demand of developing occupational safety and health science and technology and environment protection.
- Consultation, science and technology and international cooperation activities under provisions of the law:
– Training, educating in labor safety, labor hygiene and occupational health.
– Assessing risks in occupational safety and health and occupational health. Consulting in establishing the management system for occupational safety and health and occupational health in enterprises.
– Conducting standard conformity and regulation conformity for personal protective equipments and safety devices.
– Conducting monitoring, analysis and evaluation for environmental impacts; measuring norms for environmental pollution; occupational hygiene and ergonomics.
– Consulting, designing, appraising, assessing working environment pollution control and treatment system; providing protective equipments and safety devices; investing and transferring technology, providing environmental pollution control and treatment system
– Conducting occupational health checks and treatment for occupational diseases and occupational health-related diseases.
