With the theme “Safety, Health & Environment – Safer & Healthier World through Innovations and Collaborations”, APOSHO 39 focused on discussing new trends in occupational safety and health (OSH) management in the context of digital transformation, sustainable development, and increasingly deep international integration. The conference program included sessions of specialized committees, 11 plenary sessions, and 12 thematic sessions, creating a forum for in-depth, multi-faceted exchange on policies, science, and technology in the field of OSH.
At the plenary sessions, delegates were updated on many important directions related to the digitalization of OSH work, the application of automated monitoring, risk management at the national level, as well as safety management experiences in high-risk sectors such as construction, oil and gas, and heavy industry. Advanced safety management models from Germany, Japan, South Korea, and India provided valuable reference experiences that can be studied and applied appropriately to the practical conditions in Vietnam, effectively serving the Institute’s research, standard development, and policy consulting work in the future.
The conference’s seminars noted significant interest in many new and in-depth topics, such as building a safety culture, integrating ESG standards, developing smart personal protective equipment, workplace mental health care, and applying digital technology in occupational safety and health management. Notably, the scientific report by the Institute’s representative on the application of multi-criteria analysis methods in ranking occupational safety and health risks in seafood processing plants in the Central region of Vietnam attracted active exchange and discussion and received cooperation interest from several APOSHO member organizations.
In addition to professional activities, the Institute’s delegation actively engaged in bilateral exchanges and working sessions with numerous international partners such as KOSHA (Korea), JISHA (Japan), MSOSH (Malaysia), DGUV (Germany), and several other occupational safety and health organizations. These working sessions focused on showcasing the Institute’s research, training, and consulting capabilities, while also discussing cooperation directions in scientific research, human resource training, and technology transfer in the field of occupational safety and health.
Participating in the 39th APOSHO Conference not only helped the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Science to stay up-to-date on advanced international trends and experiences, but also contributed to affirming the Institute’s proactive and positive role in the Asia-Pacific regional occupational safety and health cooperation network. Based on the results achieved, the Institute aims to continue its deeper involvement in APOSHO’s specialized committees, while promoting cooperation in research, training, and technology transfer, thereby making a practical contribution to the goal of improving safe, healthy, and sustainable working conditions for Vietnamese workers.
