Online seminar on “Working environment research, the period 2026-2030”

On November 14, 2024, in Hanoi, Vietnam National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (VNNIOSH) organized an online seminar on “Working Environment Research, period 2026 – 2030”. The seminar was co-chaired by Dr. Nguyen Anh Tho, Director General of VNNIOSH and Dr. Do Tran Hai, former Director General and former Director of the Working Environment Monitoring Station (WEMOS).

Attending at the Hanoi site were Mr. Vu Xuan Trung, Deputy Director of the Institute and all researchers of the Institute from all 3 regions of the North, Central and South.

The seminar was organized with the aim of providing information and experience to help guide the selection of research topics on working environment and improve research skills when proposing and implementing scientific research contents for researchers in the Institute.

In his opening speech, Dr. Nguyen Anh Tho said that in the recent past, the Institute has organized specialized workshops on Labor Safety, Occupational Health and Digital Transformation. The specialized seminar on the Working Environment is the last specialized seminar organized this year. Through the specialized seminar, the Institute’s leaders will provide orientations and practical assessments of the needs and contents that need to be researched in the coming time. In addition, the Institute’s researchers can also realize more ideas and topics to choose new research directions.

At the seminar, speakers focused on reporting and discussing urgent issues and research trends related to the field of labor environment that are currently of interest in the world as well as in Vietnam. Some reports were presented at the seminar such as: Detecting, assessing and controlling harmful factors in the period of promoting industrialization and modernization; Ensuring the quality of labor environment monitoring; Internal inspection of labor environment monitoring quality and solutions for labor environment monitoring units; Trends and issues of digital transformation, automation and control of harmful factors in the current labor environment; Controlling the quality of labor environment monitoring from the perspective of proficiency testing and the role of specialized technical units…

Some reports attracted many comments from the seminar participants such as: “Quality control program with organizations conducting labor environment monitoring in Korea” by reporter Nguyen Hoang Hiep, WEMOS; “Emerging pollutants: Detection technology, environmental impact and management strategy” presented by MSc. Nguyen Khanh Huyen, Labor Safety Center; “Assessing the level of radiation impact on medical staff at medical facilities applying technology” presented by Dr. Hoang Thanh Phi Hung, Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute.

Speaking at the seminar, Dr. Vu Xuan Trung highly appreciated the content of the reports, suggesting issues in the field of labor environment that need to be given more attention and focused on in the coming time, namely: Automatic labor environment monitoring; Improving the quality of labor environment monitoring and building a database for monitored data; Prioritizing research directions with high applicability, meeting the requirements of new production technology changes.

In his concluding remarks at the seminar, Dr. Do Tran Hai summarized some of the main contents that were reported, acknowledged and highly appreciated the opinions exchanged and discussed by scientists and researchers in suggesting and orienting research contents on the working environment in the coming time. At the same time, he affirmed that the results of the workshop will be compiled by the Organizing Committee and reported to the Institute’s Leaders for orientation and direction in the coming time.
