Workshop: Building a scientific and technological development strategy for labour safety and hygiene by 2020, vision 2030 – Specific characteristics of the Central region
The workshop was attended by the representatives of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, the Federations of Labour, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of the neighboring provinces and some experts on labour safety and hygiene.
Many participants to the workshop said that the strategy should focus on the tasks such as increasing the research to help improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the State management of labor protection, developing the regulations, policies and standards on labour safety and hygiene and supplementing the list with new occupational diseases. Besides, in the trend of scientific and technological development, many new professions and technologies have been developed, resulting in great changes in the working environment. This requires more studies and new ways to detect potential risks and harmful effects to the workers’ health. Also, there must new requirements to prevent the hazards.
In the Central region, the coastal economic zone also has potential risks of environmental pollution at work, environmental accidents and increasing insecurity, so there is a need for more studies and attention to the environmental changes.
Vice President of the Vietnam Confederation of Labour, Mai Duc Chinh said that the participants’ ideas at the workshop would be the basis for the confederation to complete and issue its strategic plans, thereby ensuring the safety and health of the workers.
