Air pollution dispersion model from short point sources

This paper presents results of the research on developing a model of pollutant emissions from the chimney of the coal-powered boilers in the industrial park.

To have the input parameters, the author has surveyed, examined and measured many boilers and has identified the coal consumption to generate one tonne of steam and has compiled the emission factors of the pollutants (dust, SO2, NOx) on the basis of analyzing the coal compositions. The comparison of the pollutant emission models shows that the Nhikitin VS model is suitable to the low emission source and the research has developed simulation software of pollutant emission of this source.

The field measurements show that the results are very close to the calculation. The software can be used in the air protection planning in the industrial park.

The article was published in the Safety – Health & Working Environment numbers 1, 2 & 3/2013 of the National Institute of Labour Protection.
