Study and evaluate the quality of ambient air in domestic solid waste landfills in urban areas

The decomposition process of domestic solid wastes in landfill generates many kinds of pollution gases into the ambient air such as CH4, H2S, CO2, CO, Methyl Mercaptan, dust, odors…

This study assesses the quality of the air pollution of landfills at the HCM City, Dong Nai and Binh Duong in 3 years showing that most of the monitoring results of dust and toxic gases are satisfied by standards. There is difference in quality of the ambient air between operating landfills (Da Phuoc, Phuoc Hiep and Binh Duong Trang Dai) and the landfills which stop receiving waste activities (Dong Thanh and Go Cat). The air quality of sanitary landfill is satisfied by standards for workers.
